What is Botox?

Botox, as the documents define it

Open two documents first

Open the documents for the definition. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons guide to Botox and the MedlinePlus entry on Botox are the two to read first.

Why the documents differ

Different documents describe the same product at different levels of detail. A medical reference such as MedlinePlus is one kind of document. A professional society page is another. The ASPS article on common Botox questions answers questions patients ask. The ASDS neuromodulator treatments page reads the same product type as a skin treatment. Read at least two, and note where they agree.

Reading assignment before your consultation

  1. Read two of the four linked pages.
  2. List the uses each page names.
  3. List the side effects each page names.
  4. Bring both lists to a consultation with a licensed provider.
  5. Ask the provider to say which items on your lists apply to you.

What this list leaves out

This reading list comes from a site with no clinical role, so it is not medical advice. It names no dose, price or result. Ask a licensed provider for those.
